Toy Car Rebuild

Toy Car Rebuild

2022

I took on this project because my mom and I found the car online for free. It was broken and sitting on the curb for garbage, but I ended up taking and fixing it up. We then gave it to a family in need who had a 3-year-old daughter.

The end goal of this project was always to fix it as best as I could and then give it to a family who would love it and get great use out of it.

There were a few things wrong about this car: Missing battery and charger, broken motor controller and motherboard, one stripped motor gearbox. These problems weren't that bad and I really didn't want to throw the whole thing away.

We ordered a new battery and new motor and gearbox (couldn't find the same RPM so I adjusted the speed in code, it was close enough). I replaced these parts and then rewired the rest of the car to work with an Arduino Nano and L298N motor driver, which I had both laying around.

I put everything back together and reprogrammed the whole car to work well and function correctly. We then tested it and gave it to the family, who loved it!
