I wanted a electric Scooter for a while, to get to work and back and to use around my college campus. This was a $600 scooter originally, but I got it for much cheaper online because it was "broken". They said that the scooter wouldn't turn on as it has sat in a single place for like a year without using it, thus it was out of warranty. I figured this meant it was a single battery issue, for which I could replace some cells of the Li-ion pack or just revive it.
I ended up taking apart the battery pack, bypassing the BMS (which wouldn't let it charge with the dead battery) and charging it with my own current-limiting circuit. I charged it just enough for the BMS to recognize it and allow real charging, then I plugged it in to charge. Thus the battery was revived and it is as good as new.
